This painting is a modern, abstract take on a traditional hanging fern. Layers of greens in varying shades of teal, mint, aqua and chartreuse are set against a vivid magenta and violet background. Cut canvas collage fronds are layered over the painted fronds for extra depth and texture.
This fern painting starts with a canvas that I built and stretched in my studio and finished with a custom floater frame that is built in my garage shop, then painted to match the paintings background.
‘Company’s Comin’” is the title of the painting, but it’s the real reason this piece got finished. Because people where coming to stay and I had to get this piece done and hung up out of the floor. ha!
